By the Numbers
Key figures from Polish trail running.
Chochołowska–Grześ–Wołowiec, Tatry
One of the most frequently run Tatra circuits. The route follows the western ridge from the valley floor, crosses three named peaks, and descends via a technical scree section. Surface alternates between packed earth, flat rock slabs, and loose scree near the tops.
Tyniec Loop, Kraków
A moderately demanding loop in the Bielańsko-Tyniecki Landscape Park following the Vistula escarpment. Mixed forest and limestone outcrop terrain. The route passes the Benedictine Abbey at Tyniec and connects via riverside path back to the start.
Tatra Skymarathon Course
The competitive reference for high-altitude running in Poland. The course crosses the Czerwone Wierchy ridge and includes two near-vertical ascents exceeding 1 200 m each. Not a recreational trail — used here as an elevation benchmark.
Bieszczady Polonina Trails
Open ridge running above the treeline on the Polonina Wetlińska and Caryńska. Gentler gradients than Tatras, exposed to wind. Best seasonal window is June–September. Trail surface is predominantly grass and compressed peat with short rocky sections at saddles.
